Whitbread sees strong bookings in UK, Germany despite profit dip

UK-based Whitbread said on Thursday forward bookings in the UK and Germany are ahead of last year, even as it reported a 7% drop in half-year profit due to lower food and beverage sales and weaker-than-expected demand in Germany.
